RETURNING STUDENTS
ONLINE REGISTRATION 

PLEASE FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW
STEP 01

Log into SMP

If you have not updated your personal details, you will be requested to first do so.

Please complete as much information as possible, it is required by the the SA Council on Higher Education (CHE)

STEP 02

Select the Registration menu in SMP. Then choose the Register for Modules link. (Here is a Help Guide)

Are you confused with which modules to choose? Click the button below to view your qualification checksheet.
Spreadsheets also allow you to calculate your total module fees for the semester.

STEP 03

Choose your modules in SMP

(STEP 4 in the Help Guide)

Click the CONFIRM SELECTION button

STEP 04

Click the START REGISTRATION button

There are various optional fees that you can select. Students that live on campus must select the Internet fee (R250). There is also an MTN internet data option if you wish to purchase (R495 per semester). 

Click the START REGISTRATION button once you are sure about your selection.

You will receive a confirmation email with subject “Your HCHE Registration has started!”

STEP 05

Pay, and then upload your proof of payment.

Sponsored or bursary students must upload their verification notice from their sponsor. You must also download a debt form, from the same page and email it to finadmin@hche.ac.za

The Finance Office will check your proof of payment.

STEP 06

You are done!

Once your registration is finalised, you will receive an email with the subject “You have been Registered at HCHE!”

Your Calendar / Timetable will be available in SMP

YOU MUST CHECK IF YOUR MODULES CLASH! Check your timetable and make sure nothing is clashing. If you are taking modules from different years, they can often clash. You will need to contact IT Services or drop the problem module. If the module cannot be shifted once registration is complete, then you must drop the problem module.
