RETURNING STUDENTS
ONLINE REGISTRATION 

PLEASE FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW
STEP 01

 

Students must download the financial contract forms and sign them. During registration, you
will upload your proof of payment for the initial down payment, and include the financial contract forms with your upload.

STEP 02

Select the Registration menu in SMP. Then choose the Register for Modules link. (Here is a Help Guide)

Are you confused with which modules to choose? Click the button below to view your qualification checksheet.
Spreadsheets also allow you to calculate your total module fees for the semester.

STEP 03

Choose your modules in SMP

(STEP 4 in the Help Guide)

Click the NEXT button

STEP 04

Click the START REGISTRATION button

Update your personal information and click the NEXT button once you are sure about your module selection.

You will receive a confirmation email with subject “Your HCHE Registration has started!”

STEP 05

Pay, and then upload your Proof of Payment and Financial Contract.

The modules and cost on the SMP payment page is the total tuition fee for the first semester 2025. In order to register for your chosen programme there is an initial payment.

There are three payment options:

PAYMENT OPTION 1

Degree: R5000

Higher Certificate: R3000

Foundation Year: R3000

This payment will secure your place as a registered student for the 2025 intake. Option 1 will require a debit order which our Finance Department will contact you about once you submit your proof of payment for the initial payment.

Accommodation for option 1: If you are also planning to stay in the ladies or men’s residence, then please add R5275 to the initial down payment amount above.

PAYMENT OPTION 2

Degree down payment: R15 000

Higher Certificate down payment: Pay 50% of the total tuition fee

Foundation Year down payment: Pay 50% of the total tuition fee

Accommodation for option 2: If you are also planning to stay in the ladies or men’s residence, then please add R24 350 to the option 2 down payment amount.

PAYMENT OPTION 3

Pay the full tuition fee. A 5% discount is provided with option 3 after payment has been made. The 5% is credited to your account.

 

All International (non-South African) students must pay 100% of their tuition & boarding fees in order to register. International students in their second year or higher need only pay 50% during registration.

STEP 06

You are done!

Once your registration is finalised, you will receive an email with the subject “You have been Registered at HCHE!”

YOU MUST CHECK YOUR CALENDAR FOR MODULE CLASHES!

Your calendar or time table in SMP will only show your modules once you have completed registration.

We actively try to move student modules to avoid clashes. However, we only do this until just before classes start on 3 February. Check your timetable and make sure nothing is clashing. If you are taking modules from different years, they can often clash. You will need to contact IT Services BEFORE 3 February 2025, or drop the problem module. You can also speak to the lecturers involved but they are not obliged to shift their module times or the day.
