DISCLAIMERS:

  • Sundry costs not included.
  • Errors and omissions excepted.

NOTE: The following payment options and discounts apply to new students registering for their first year of study at HCHE

REGISTRATION

In order to register for your chosen programme there is an initial payment. This fee varies slightly according to the overall cost of your programme (degree, higher certificate or foundation):

  1. Degree: First Semester Registration Fee + Tuition Down Payment = R1500 + R3500 = R5000
  2. Higher Certificate: First Semester Registration Fee + Tuition Down Payment = R1500 + R1500 = R3000
  3. Foundation Year: First Semester Registration Fee + Tuition Down Payment = R1500 + R1500 = R3000

NOTE: It is in the college’s as well as the student’s interest to register early rather than later. Please pay attention to the following:

  1. The registration fee of R1500 is waived if a student registers for the 2025 January intake, prior to 15 December 2024. The fee to register remains the same (R5000 for Degree Programmes and R3000 for the Higher Certificate and Foundation Year Programmes), but the entire amount is now designated for tuition fees.
  2. Early registration guarantees the student’s place in their chosen programme.
  3. Students are formally registered once this fee is paid and will be provided with a confirmation of registration document. They may hence apply for financial assistance to financial institutions and sponsors for the forthcoming year on the strength of this confirmation of registration.
  4. Registered students are given priority when applying for accommodation at the college. Note, however, that accommodation fees and payment plans are not part of the tuition fee schedule.

PAYMENT OPTIONS

  1. Full Payment before 15 December 2024 (15% discount)

A student who pays for the 2025 first semester in full before 15 December 2024 will be charged at 2024 rates (a 5% reduction on the 2025 tuition fees) and will also receive a 5% discount for paying before classes commence in 2025 (see point 2 below). In addition, since the student will therefore have registered in 2024, the registration fee (R1430 per semester) will be waived. This payment option is equivalent in total to a discount of approximately 15%. A student may pay for just the first semester or the full year (first and second semesters) utilising this discount option.

  1. Full Payment in Advance (5% discount)

A student who pays for the semester in full before classes commence in January 2025 (after 15 December 2024) will receive a 5% discount on the total tuition fee for the semester. Similarly, a student who pays in advance before classes commence for the second semester in July 2025 will also receive a 5% discount on the total semester tuition fee.

  1. Monthly Payment Plan

For the January intake, an initial payment of R5000 for degrees, R3000 for foundation and higher certificate programmes, is payable before or at registration (see above). The balance of the fees will be divided into a 10-month payment plan, from February to November and will be accomplished via a debit order. It is possible that the debit order amount may need to be slightly adjusted in July 2025 according to the student’s second semester credit load. However, the debit order is mandatory if you are on the monthly payment plan.

  1. Unique Payment Plan

Students may have unique challenges with regard to their financial situation. In this case, it is important to be in touch with the finance department early in order to work out a payment plan that is sustainable.

ACCOMODATION FEES 2024: (2025 fees pending updates)

Financial arrangements must be made before a student can be admitted into the residence. 10% of the semester’s dormitory fee should be paid before students are granted access to their rooms. A room can only be booked if the student account is settled in full. International students must pay for the full semester in advance.

Note that this is separate from the refundable room deposit, 8.8 below. Please note that this amount is only effective if the student account is cleared from the previous semester.
  2. All students are to load money onto their student cards to purchase meals from the Cafeteria.
  3. Please note that money for meals is to be paid directly into the student’s personal bank account.

  7. The single room option is based on availability and preference will be given to senior students.
  8. The residence room deposit will be refunded to the student after withdrawing or graduating from the College, provided the room is left in good order. Reasonable wear and tear excepted.
