EGW Research & Heritage Center

The Ellen G. White Research and Heritage Centre (EGW) is a sub-organisation of the Ellen G. White Estate situated at the world headquarters of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (SDA) in Silver Spring, Maryland, USA. The White Estate was created in compliance with the last will and testament of Ellen G. White, mainly for the purposes of preserving, translating in other languages than English and publishing her writings.
The Centre,  situated at Helderberg College of Higher Education is the only research centre in the Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division (SID). It was established in 1983, and Dr. Izak van Zyl was the first director. It is one of the 15 similar research centres operating world-wide. Other centres in Africa are situated at the University of Eastern Africa – Baraton and Babcock University in Kenya and Nigeria respectively. Each centre contains duplicates of Ellen White’s manuscripts, letters, and books plus other historical documents  – connected with her writings and the history of the SDA Church. The Centre is also responsible for promoting the preservation of the SDA church’s heritage in the division territory.
The EGW Centre staff offer valuable services to students and staff of Helderberg College, the constituents of the Southern Africa-Indian Ocean Division and the public at large. Individuals may visit any time during working hours, while big groups should make an appointment so that proper arrangements can be made.
